The Wall

As much as I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan, this isn't about their music, so much as it's about the new wall that is going up around The Gathering International's new home in Firgrove.

The wall has taken a few days to erect and will be finished today. Once that's done, we can then get our gate installed, and then we can finish installing a few other security measures before we move our Homework Club into the building.

We are seriously excited about this imminent move for the Homework Club, as it will be the first full use of the property, and a great way to serve the community. It will also allow us to look at how we can expand the outreach. Slowly things are taking shape, and we are incredibly thankful to God for His faithfulness.

Just a word on our security for the building... Sadly, such security as mentioned above is essential, as is the armed response security, alarm and burglar bars on every window & door. This would feel odd in Blighty, but here in South Africa, it's the norm.  We will also be adding CCTV and some sensor beams in the grounds of the building. All in all, this is just a tragic reflection of reality out here, and without the security, the property would be stripped of all its wiring, copper pipes, and anything else of value, and that's before we've moved the church into it.
