Welcome to Loadshedding Corner.

Yes, we actually have a corner of the house dedicated to just keeping various items charged and running for  when the power goes off.

So far in 2023 we haven't had a single day without loadshedding, and recently we seem to have graduated from mostly being in Stages 1 & 2 to mostly being in Stages 5 & 6 which often means we get to enjoy four hours of uninterrupted blackouts at a time.

At times it gets so silly that in an eight hour stretch we only have electricity for two of those hours, and every now and then we get some free extra loadshedding (an extra two hours last Saturday!) because clearly we haven't had enough.

Like many people here we have had to invest in various measures to mitigate the impact of loadshedding, and as such we're the proud owners of three mini inverters/portable power stations, several rechargeable lights, a gas bottle and a seemingly endless quantity of power and USB cables to run things and keep things charged.
