What is truly remarkable over the ten years is how the Soup Kitchen has grown and how in all that time we have only missed seven or eight, and only three of which were during Covid lockdowns.
Our Soup Kitchen is always a chilled occasion, but last night was something special as we played a slideshow of random photos from the last ten years. Many of our regulars really enjoyed seeing themselves over the years, and some of our former Homework Club kids really enjoyed seeing how young they were back in the day.Last night's Soup Kitchen was one of our busier in recent months, so it was joyous to see folk so happy to chill and spend time drink soup whilst squashed in together.
Everyone also enjoyed the special chocolates we had bought in as a small celebration treat.
I still smile at the advice we were given at the outset from certain local church leaders, most of whom seemed to think opening a Soup Kitchen would be pretty disastrous. LOL.
Over the last ten years we've built some great friendships, relationships and a lot of trust & respect in the community, and those things are priceless as far as we are concerned. This also means that over those ten years the impact we've had on the community is far greater than the size of the church, and for that we'll be forever grateful.
Enjoy the slideshow...
