Rosie Dog

Yesterday was a tough day for us as we said goodbye to our beautiful Rosie Dog.

Rosie lived a good long life, but at sweet 16 she was struggling with the most basic of activities such as grooming, and walking was painful for her. So after consulting some dear friends with more experience of dog ownership than us, and a chat with the vet, we agreed it was time to do the right thing and let Rosie go.

It was a beautifully warm & sunny morning, and Rosie was out in her favourite patch of grass in the front garden.

I had always insisted that when the time came I would be the last person she saw, and so I cupped her lovely head in my hands and had my head on her snout so we were eye to eye. As the vet ministered the drugs I held Rosie until it was confirmed she had passed.

It was a joy & a privilege to call Rosie part of our family, and she will be missed for many years to come.

Big thanks to Melissa for the poem above.
