Weekend Sans Enfant

Just as we had planned, on Friday evening we sat out on the veranda overlooking Pringle Bay whilst sipping on an ice cold ’09 sauvignon blanc. 2009 really is an amazing year for sauvignon blanc and we look forward to a few years time when the reds are released.

We made the most of our weekend sans enfants and went to Pringle Bay where Peter & Gloria at the Wild Olive have an amazing way of making one feel at home in their guest house. Gloria is the perfect host and Peter is a phenomenal chef, so one doesn’t even have to go out for dinner.

Luckily for us it’s crayfish season and Peter had been out on his boat that morning to catch some so we had rather too much crayfish for dinner (that’s not a complaint by the way).

Saturday was perhaps the laziest day we’ve had in many years and was thoroughly enjoyable. We did manage two short strolls, one along the beach marvelling at the blues & greens of the water whilst enjoying the texture of clean white sand between our toes. Later we took our second stroll to the Pringle Mingle for coffee and cake, bliss! Later that evening even Peter expressed surprise at our having taken two strolls in one day. Hmmm, he knows us too well.
We are so grateful to Barbara & Paddy for having the boys for two nights and to Jo & Mark for looking after the boys on Sunday morning. Without such great friends our sanity would surely suffer!
